The situation

What has happened

The Marlow Flat Recreation Reserve Committee has lodged a planning application for a new skate park with lighting, funded partly by a state grant that must be acquitted by June. Council has resolved to consult the community on the design before deciding. Neighbours have already raised noise and lighting concerns, young people have been asking for the park for years, and the primary school wants a safe-use education program to go with it. Ash Lindqvist needs a Community Consultation Plan that opens by 5 October, closes before the November council meeting, reaches groups that are usually hard to hear from, and includes a public education element on safe and respectful use of the park.

Your brief. Complete a Community Consultation Plan using the template that defines the decision, identifies all stakeholders, chooses suitable methods and timing, sets a budget, and explains how results will be reported back, and record the consultation as a request in the Customer Request System.

What to look for

Evidence guide

The plan must be honest about what residents can influence, reach the harder-to-hear groups with specific methods, and meet the minimum four-week period. Look for a realistic budget, a report-back commitment with a date, and a public education element that is more than a poster. Check the grant deadline is reflected in the timetable.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
