Council meeting Tuesday 15 September

The ordinary council meeting will be held in the council chamber at 6:00 pm on Tuesday 15 September and streamed on the shire website. Reports close with Governance at noon on Thursday 3 September. Officers presenting reports must be in the chamber by 5:45 pm. Public question time opens the meeting.

Manual handling refresher for depot staff

Following a back injury on the footpath crew, all depot staff will complete a manual handling refresher on Thursday 24 September at the Kellerton depot. Sessions run at 7:00 am and 12:30 pm. The vacuum slab lifter is now mandatory for all concrete slab work and must be on the truck before the crew leaves the yard.

Rates instalment one due 30 September

The first rates instalment falls due on 30 September. Customer service staff can expect higher call volumes in the last week of the month. Please offer a payment arrangement to any ratepayer who says they cannot pay in full and refer anyone in difficulty to the rates team for a hardship form. Do not quote balances over the phone without identity verification.

Internal audit of customer request handling

The internal auditors will review a sample of customer requests from July to September during the week of 12 October. Managers must ensure that every request in their department has current notes, correct status and a recorded outcome. Requests closed without a recorded customer contact will be raised as findings.

Event

Brightwater Spring Market and community stall

The Spring Market runs on Saturday 17 October in Main Street. Community Development will run a shire stall with the skate park consultation and dog registration renewals. Volunteers from any department are welcome for a two-hour shift. Kerb works in Main Street are deferred until after the market.
