Capital improved value
The market value of a property including land and improvements, used as the base for calculating general rates in Victoria.
Delegation
A formal authority given by council or the Chief Executive Officer to a staff member to make a decision on council's behalf.
Differential rate
A different rate in the dollar applied to a category of land such as residential, farm or commercial.
Intervention level
The condition at which a road or footpath defect must be repaired under the road management plan, expressed as a size, depth or height.
Notice of decision
A planning decision to grant a permit where objections were received, which gives objectors time to seek review before the permit issues.
Overlay
A planning scheme control that sits over a zone to protect a particular value such as heritage, bushfire risk or environmental significance.
Referral authority
An agency such as a water or road authority that must be sent certain planning applications and whose response can bind the decision.
Road management plan
The document that sets the inspection frequencies, intervention levels and response times for each class of road and footpath the shire manages.
Supplementary valuation
A valuation made during the year when a property changes, such as a new building or subdivision, so that rates reflect the change.
Toolbox talk
A short, practical safety briefing given to a work crew at the start of a shift or before a specific task.
