Prepare the council report on the asset management strategy
You are the Coordinator Asset Management reporting to the Manager Infrastructure and Works.
What has happened
The audit and risk committee has reviewed the shire's long-term financial plan and found that the renewal gap on roads and bridges is widening. It has asked for the asset management strategy to be reviewed and reported to the October council meeting with funding options. The condition data in the works system shows unsealed roads and timber bridges deteriorating faster than the renewal budget allows. Finance has modelled three options: hold renewal spending, increase it by 1.2 million dollars a year through a special charge, or reprioritise capital projects. Helen Marchetti wants a council report that gives councillors a clear recommendation and does not hide the trade-offs.
